HSE enforces the Health and Safety at Work, etc. Act 1974 (HASAW) and subordinate legislation in all premises in Great Britain (i. e. England, Scotland and Wales) and on offshore installations on the UK Continental Shelf, to which the legislation is extended. To: (1) supervise the rigging of the pilot transfer arrangements and the embarkation of the pilot; (2) escort the pilot by a safe route to and from the navigation bridge; (3) ensure that personnel engaged in rigging and operating any mechanical equipment are instructed in the safe procedures to be adopted; and (4) ensure that the equipment is tested prior to use.
