(1) Inform the ship's agent, with instructions to notify local Immigration, Customs, taxi, etc. 

In the form specified in the appendix to the revised MARPOL Annex V in force from 1 January 2013.

If the ship is operating within 1000 nautical miles of the coast of another State, or has announced its intention to enter a port under that State's jurisdiction, the LRIT information from the ship will be automatically distributed to the State through the International Data Exchange. In this case, the State will be able to monitor the vessel, request on-demand transmissions and change the automatic reporting interval.

By virtue of the definition of "seaman" in section 313 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995, Part I of the Merchant Shipping (Crew Agreements, Lists of Crew and Discharge of Seamen) Regulations 1991, which deals with Engagement of Seamen, does not apply to a master, in other words the master is excepted (as distinct from exempted) from the requirements of Part I. This is because, for the purposes of engagement of seamen, the master is the employer's representative (or in legal terminology, agent) and not a seaman himself.

Every oil tanker of 150 GT or more, and every other ship of 400 GT or more. ("Oil tanker" includes a combination carrier and a chemical tanker carrying a cargo or part cargo of oil in bulk)

Equipment on UK ships and listed in MSN 1734 (as amended) must comply with the applicable international standards specified in that MSN. Equipment will not comply with the applicable international standards unless (1) it meets the testing standards of the relevant international convention (SOLAS, MARPOL, etc. ) as specified in MSN 1734 (as amended); and (2) it has been manufactured in accordance with the EC conformity-assessment procedure and the mark of conformity, identification and the last two digits of the year in which the mark was affixed are on the equipment.

All candidates for certificates of competency (both deck and engine departments) and any other persons required to undertake duties involving the control of fire fighting operations.

They are the initials of the Assigning Authority, e. g. Lloyd's Register.

IMO guidance on the qualifications, training and experience necessary for DPAs is set out in MSC-MEPC. 7/Circ. 6 published in October 2007. The Company should provide the necessary training courses and evidence that the DPA has the relevant qualification, training and experience.

(1) Security-related familiarisation training (Reg. VI/6.1); and (2) security awareness training (Reg. VI/6. 1).

The Passenger Ship Safety Certificate or Passenger Certificate, whichever is issued. A statement to this effect is usually printed on the certificate.

For each ship subject to regulations 5 and 6 of Annex VI (i. e. ships required to be surveyed and have an IAPP Certificate), details of fuel oil for combustion purposes delivered to and used on board must be recorded by means of a bunker delivery note which must contain at least the information specified in appendix V to Annex VI. The bunker delivery note must be kept on board, readily available for inspection at all reasonable times and retained for three years after the fuel oil has been delivered on board.

Tankers which do not proceed to sea. (This class includes, for example, UK bunker barges operating in harbours.)

Because personnel on ALC 1 (b) are not parties to a Crew Agreement and therefore do not have to sign to indicate their agreement to be employed on its terms.
