Cargo ships of 500 GT or over on international voyages, if they do not have a Cargo Ship Safety Certificate.

To ensure that: 

It should indicate the cargoes regulated by the LHNS Guidelines that the vessel is permitted to carry with any relevant carriage conditions.

The Company must ensure that the company security officer, the master and the ship security officer are given the necessary support to fulfil their duties and responsibilities in accordance with SOLAS chapter XI-2 and Part A of the ISPS Code. (For questions on SSO training see Section E.)

In every ship of Class I carrying more than 36 passengers and every cargo ship of Class VII of 500 GT or over, training in the use of emergency escape breathing devices (EEBDs) must be included in the on-board training of each crew member as soon as possible, or in any event not more than two weeks, after first joining the ship.

The Company must maintain a record of every accident involving death, major or serious injury, and every dangerous occurrence and make it available on request to any worker and any person duly authorised by the Secretary of State for Transport (e. g. an MAIB inspector).

In the event of an accidental or other exceptional discharge of oil a statement must be made in the Oil Record Book Part 1 or Part 2, as appropriate, of the circumstances of, and the reasons for, the discharge.

In MGN 92 (Training and Certification Guidance Part 2). This gives guidance on application of The Merchant Shipping (Training and Certification) Regulations 1997, which implement the requirements of STCW 95 in the UK.

A Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate can normally be issued only if the inspection of the ship has been carried out when the ship and holds are empty or when they contain only ballast or other material, of such a nature or so disposed as to make a thorough inspection of the holds possible.
