(1) Generic ECDIS training; and (2) type-specific ECDIS training.

A deck officer or certificated person must be placed in charge of each survival craft to be used, and a deck officer or certificated person must be assigned as second-in-command of a lifeboat. 

In UK internal waters (i. e. waters inside UK territorial sea baselines, such as estuaries, rivers, lochs and lakes) and in the UK territorial sea (which extends 12 miles offshore). Pollution law also applies in the UK pollution control zone and, under The Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Pollution) (Intervention) (Foreign Ships) Order 1997 (SI 1997/2568), outside the pollution control zone if there is a grave and imminent threat of pollution. On each occasion, on a tank-to-tank basis if appropriate, when any of the operations listed above take place, and without delay.

Administrations shall ensure that every person found qualified under the provisions of regulation VI/5 is issued with a certificate of proficiency. (STCW Reg. VI/5.2)

SOLAS Regulation XII/8.3 requires a triangle, of side 500 mm in length, painted in a contrasting colour with its apex 300 mm below the deck line, to be marked on the side shell of the ship when compliance with regulation XII/6. 2 involves imposition of loading/operating restrictions as described in regulation XII/6. 3.

(1) The master must ensure that ship's personnel continuously monitor cargo operations. 

The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978.

By a notation on its Certificate of Class. Each classification society has its own system of character symbols, figures and letters. A tanker classed by Lloyd's Register, for example, might be described by the notation "+100A1 Oil Tanker ESP LMC UMS IGS ICE CLASS IB", while a cruise ship classed by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) might have the notation "+1A1 Passenger Ship E0, ICE-1C, COMF-V (cm) 1, W1".

Until 1 January 2017, seafarers who commenced training before 1 July 2013 may be issued with certificates in accordance with the provisions of STCW 95. By 1 January 2017 full compliance with the 2010 (Manila) Amendments must be achieved by all seafarers, including all seafarer medical fitness certificates. STCW 95 certificates will no longer be valid.

Support vessels servicing the installation concerned are allowed to enter but should only do so after consultation with the installation's OIM, to ensure that they don't endanger any other operations being carried out. OIMs may demand the modification or termination of any support vessel activity that they regard as hazardous.
