(1) Candidates for certification as officer in charge of a navigational watch of ships of 500 GT or more (STCW Code Section A-II/1);

They both apply to high-speed craft on international voyages. The 2000 HSC Code applies to craft built on or after 1 July 2002. The 1994 Code applies to older craft.

A solid material which contains as an essential ingredient one or more high molecular mass polymers and which is formed (shaped) during either manufacture of the polymer or the fabrication into a finished product by heat and/or pressure. Plastics have material properties ranging from hard and brittle to soft and elastic. A Container or Vehicle Packing Certificate must be signed by the person who stowed the goods in or on their transport unit (e. g. container).

The duty to write an up-to-date policy statement and bring this to the notice of the workers on board. (Regulation 6)

Chiefly, it enables a consignee or endorsee of a bill of lading, on transfer of the Bill, to sue the carrier for loss or damage to the goods as though he was a party to the contract of carriage (the shipper and the carrier being the two parties).

MIN 445 state that the MCA considers that the following will meet the adequate back-up requirements for ECDIS: (1) an independent, fully compliant second ECDIS unit, connected to ship's main and emergency power supplies; or (2) an appropriate folio of paper nautical charts (as stated in the footnote SOLAS Regulation V/19. 2. 1. 5).

It may be either 350 nautical miles (nm) from baselines or 100 nm from the 2, 500-metre isobath (a line connecting depths of 2, 500 m), whichever is greater.
